THE ARCTIC CIRCLE 2012 – CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Arctic Circle 2012 seeks applications from international contemporary artists of all disciplines, scientists, architects, educators and innovators alike. Aboard an ice-class expedition sailing vessel, participants will voyage on a collaborative mission into the High Arctic.

The Arctic Circle 2012 takes place in the international territory of Svalbard, a mountainous Arctic archipelago just 10 degrees from the North Pole. The program provides the opportunity for artists and innovators to pursue their personal projects on board while exploring collaborations with the expedition’s fellow participants.

The vessel, a traditionally rigged Tall Ship, is equipped with work space, common areas and ample room for privacy and creativity.

The Arctic Circle is a nexus where art intersects science, architecture, and activism–an incubator for thought and experimentation for artists and innovators who seek out areas of collaboration to engage in the central issues of our time.
