THE FIRST DAYS OF THE TABLE AND THE TERRITORY

The first edition of the Table & the Territory Days will take place in Saint-Denis (FR), Horažďovice (CZ) and Athens (GQ) from the 19th of September to 1st of October. The program of this festival includes exhibitions, installations, performances, meetings, workshops, screenings and unveilings of research-creations in process. Come and discover the diversity of cultural solutions for sustainable food at Zone Sensible, ArtMill and Locus Athens.

The Table and Territory is a transdisciplinary European cooperation program that brings together a community of cultural actors committed to ecological transition and sustainable food. From the field to gastronomy, hybrid initiatives led by artists in the fields of agriculture and food are multiplying on a European scale. The Table and the Territory is supporting this new scene and promoting the importance of culture based solutions.

The Table and the Territory implements seven research-creation programs, led by artists and scientists in five European countries. By exploring territories strongly concerned by the relationship between food and territory in a context of climate change, the research-creation teams are highlighting this issue by proposing experiments and solutions for the future.

SILO, a collective of artists carries out research and an edition based on these recipe stories to imagine together what would be the specificities of sustainable food to come in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Contrary to what one might think, as peasant markets gain in popularity in the big cities of Central Europe, rural regions are inundated with supermarkets and mega-agro-industries while traditional markets are full of Chinese imports cheaper than local products. Ten Czech and European artists collaborate with farming families in ArtMill, to promote the consumption of local food products in the region.
